G. Berthold

R.W. William Grosser, D.D.G.M. of the 8th. District of the Grand Lodge of Maine sent a copy of their January 1999 Newsletter to Brother Alan Heath and he forwarded it to me. It contained this poem by a Brother G. Berthold of Doric Lodge No. 94, Enfield, CT.

AROUND THE THREE GREAT LIGHTS

The Wisdom of the ancient words
familiar to the ears,
Draws us to the brotherhood
where all of us are peers,
I could not think of better ways
to spend those special nights,
When brother's voice finds brother's ear
around the Three Great Lights.

The Strength of old established truths
and landmarks long defined
Unite us all assembled here
and make us of one mind.
We find it hard improving on
the customs of our rites,
And brother's eye meets brother's eye
around the Three Great Lights.

The Beauty of true charity
shows that someone cares
When brothers' word of true concern
lightens burdens of dispair,
No, there could not be a better way
to experience these delights,
And brother's hand joins brother's hand
Around the Three Great Lights.
